Managed Server Hosting

Is this is an ISP cloaking site: Host Name: server.anonblog.org/ISP: Managed Solutions Group Inc ?

I have a stats counter on my blog and I started to see this strange host name coming up and was wondering if any one knew what it was? Thanks!

Wow – a lot of info about that site is here.

Semi Dedicated Hosting

Which Hosting to buy?

I am launching a youtube clone. I expect that after a few days atleast 50 people will be online on my website each and every time. I heard that simple shared Hosting Plans don’t allow more than 20 users to be online on the server at a time. I am not sure about that info.
Please let me know whether I should buy a simple Shared Hosting plan, a Virtual Private Server, a semi dedicated server or a dedicated server? I don’t have money for dedicated server monthly costs.
Plz help

Go with the VPS. Decent performance at a good price…

Dedicated Servers

What are dedicated servers in online games?

Are dedicated servers the ones we have in games like bad company 2 or MAG? What do you call the type of servers in the call of duty games?

A dedicated server in a game is pretty much saying an online community that belongs to an individual. For instance, the way the Call of Duty games work is they choose a host, someone to “own” the server, in which other people can constantly join and exit. This is a dedicated server. Advanced options allow them to switch who owns the server, too. The fact that it’s dedicated, means the server never ends. Dedicated servers can be either user or provider based.

Something that wouldn’t be considered a dedicated server would be, hoping you’ve played it, how the Gears of War 2 games used to be played. It would choose one person to be host, who could end the entire match simply by quitting, but the game would also be over at the end of the match. So, the game stops either with the host, or upon finishing one match.

Dedicated Server Hosting- Rackspace, Slice Host, Wired Tree, any experiences or suggestions?

Looking for a managed dedicated server hosting plan. around/minimum of

-1500GB bandwidth
-100mbs transfer rate
-2.0 Dual Core Process
-2 or 4 GB RAM
-100GB storage with hot swappable and at least Raid 1
-Backup

Will need to be managed and firewalled. Any suggestions for reliable providers? Thanks.

Rackspace would be a good choice.

You should also check Cloud Hosting from Rackspace and Amazon.

Dedicated Windows Hosting

hi, I have a dedicated server with windows 2003, how to manage my server to host websites and to be public FTP

hi,
I have a dedicated server with windows 2003
, how to manage my server to host websites and to be public FTP

Ummm this is not a simple question. If you have a raw windows 2003 box exposed to the internet you are asking for trouble. My very serious advice is get some training.

For experimentation purposes you can enable Web and FTP on a 2003 box by going to control panel then Add Remove Windows Components. I am doing this from memory if I am correct you choose application server and then choose to install IIS. Look in the sub-components of IIS to ensure that FTP server is enabled.

I stress again there is a lot to know about security on the internet, so please do not attach this box directly to the net.
