Web Hosting – DNS Problem?

Two days ago I’ve changed my Web Hosting company. I also bought a new Domain name to use with my new Web Hosting. I’ve changed the DNS settings on the Domain etc.
But when I try to open my new domain name I get this error:
DNS error – cannot find server

My domain company said its to do with my hosting company and they couldn’t help me. My hosting company said there wasn’t any problem with my DNS settings and everything was working fine and they told me to check my internet connection and turn my modem off and on again. So I did what they told me but I still get the same error. I tried opening my new domain using a proxy site and when I use a proxy it works fine.
Can anyone help me?

There’s no way we can troubleshoot without knowing what domain it was. But it sounds like your computer still has the old DNS entry stuck in cache and thinks will fix themselves once the DNS cache time expires.

Check your SOA record. For example, here’s yahoo.com’s:
origin = ns1.yahoo.com
mail addr = hostmaster.yahoo-inc.com
serial = 2010021904
refresh = 3600
retry = 300
expire = 1814400
minimum = 600

Times are in seconds. So an entry in this domain would usually be cached for 10 minutes. (Technically, individual entries can have their own times, but it’s unlikely you did that.)
